On April 8, 1975, the Barbados Advocate highlighted growing national concern about drug use, as Assistant Superintendent Ashton Marshall warned that social and domestic pressures were pushing young people toward substance abuse. Alongside him, Reverend Charles Taylor cautioned that the issue could spread across the Caribbean if not addressed early.
