On August 10, 1839, Barbadians marked the eighth anniversary of the devastating Great Hurricane of 1831, which killed an estimated 1,500 people on the island. The Barbadian reflected on the tragedy and the role of faith and prayer in facing the unpredictable dangers of hurricane season.
