On June 10, 1909, Barbados celebrated the grand opening of Queen’s Park, transforming what had once been overgrown land into a beautifully landscaped public space. Designed by Lady Carter, wife of Governor Sir Gilbert Carter, the park featured flower gardens, lawns, terraces, fountains, an artificial lake, and recreational areas.
