Show Notes

The Barbados Advocate reported severe overcrowding at the Barbados General Hospital, with patients sharing beds and some being discharged despite needing further care. Rising admissions placed increasing pressure on doctors, nurses and facilities, strengthening calls for a new hospital. The crisis eventually contributed to the development of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which opened in 1964.
