Barbados’ Legislative Council passed legislation to amend plans for redeveloping the section of Bridgetown devastated by the major fire of 1845. The measures allowed changes to the original redevelopment plan, including reducing the proposed width of Broad Street and permitting other approved alterations. The legislation formed part of efforts to rebuild and reorganize Bridgetown following the extensive destruction.
