Hello, I am Chelsea Osborne, graduate student in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Psychology at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. On this day, November 10th, 1951, the Barbados Advocate reported on a cocktail party held at the Marine Hotel. With an attendance of over 300 guests, the event was held to commemorate the opening of a new bar. This new bar, which was made of light, curvy mahogany, replaced the original bar of 15 years.
