On this day, November 10th, 1951, the Barbados Advocate reported on a cocktail party held at the Marine Hotel. With an attendance of over 300 guests, the event was held to commemorate the opening of a new bar. This new bar, which was made of light, curvy mahogany, replaced the original bar of 15 years.
