Show Notes

The first signs of a destructive hurricane emerged in Barbados on September 2, 1835, as persistent rain and strengthening winds developed overnight. By the following day, the storm caused extensive damage to homes, plantations and vessels, with working-class communities particularly affected. Eight men also lost their lives at sea, while the destruction evoked painful memories of the Great Hurricane of 1831.
