Hello, I am Shavier Cummings, history graduate from the Department of History, Philosophy, and Psychology at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. On this day, November 14, 1839, the Barbadian newspaper reported that a deputation of 50 laborers from the parish of St. George, well-dressed, and well-mounted rode in procession from the station house of District B to Government House. Their purpose was to present an address from their fellow labourers to His Excellency, the Governor, Edward Waithe.
