The Barbados Observer reported on a devastating fire that destroyed much of Speightstown Methodist Church after repair work on its roof. Built in 1859 as part of Methodism’s expansion in northern Barbados, the church was reduced largely to its walls, forcing its congregation to worship elsewhere for approximately two years. Rebuilt and reopened in 1940, the church continues its ministry in Speightstown and surrounding communities.
